About the Event

This is a one-time 3-hour class teaching Sewing Machine Basics for new students preparing to begin a Workhop Series, Sewing 101 or Fashion Design course.

Course material will include threading the needle, winding a bobbin, introductory stitch practice, backstitching, thread tension, stitch width & length, etc. Students will also complete a project to take home.

This class is now a prerequisite for all new students wishing to begin Sewing + Fashion workshops and classes. Because of this, enrollment priority is given to those students who plan to continue on to the following month's classes.

Students who have already taken a Sewing/Fashion class with YADCA do NOT need to take this class prior to enrollment.

We will be offering two Machine Basics classes this summer:

Dates

Saturday, June 5th (must be taken in order to participate in the June workshops)

Saturday, July 10th

Times

10:00am - 1:00pm

Cost

$45

Location

For the time being we will continue operating all classes out of a Summerlin home located near The Trails Community Center which is located at 1910 Spring Gate Lane. The biggest cross streets are Lake Mead and Rampart. The exact address will be provided upon sign up.

We are able to have 5 students in each class and sign-ups will be on a first come, first serve basis. If you have any questions or would like to sign up for one of the classes listed above, please RSVP below and we will contact you regarding registration.

Please note that we will continue to follow Nevada Covid guidelines and request masks for children above 9 years old without underlying conditions, until further notice. Please also take into consideration that while we space students about 6 feet apart during class, there is closer interaction as teachers help students at the machine or as children move about the room to get needed supplies. Again, please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns and we will be happy to talk through things with you.
